Feeling Overwhelmed?

What do you do when you experience the feelings of being overwhelmed or as if life is spinning out of control? When I have these emotions I take time to be still and click the inner pause button. Then I pray or take deep breaths to clear my mind. Most of us can relate to having a rough day, week or year. When you are going through it, consider shifting your focus on what is going well in your life, and surrender the negative emotions to God. Now, it’s your turn. Write in the comments what do you do to reset mentally.

Embrace Vulnerability

We have all struggled in one way or another. We may be feeling a little broken or hurt because of what we have gone through or is currently going through. Consider being open and vulnerable to someone you can trust with your thoughts, and who is non-judgmental. We were not created to carry our burdens alone, actually the load may be too heavy, which is why the bible tells us to share each other’s burdens. It’s time to heal. Dare To Dream!

Today, I am excited to be hosting an online women of faith event entitled, “Dare To Dream.” As children we dreamed all the time, but as we grew older our dreams faded into our current realities, and suddenly we no longer dream or have goals. I would like for you to consider that when God places a dream or goal in your heart, it is important to take steps towards it, even if it is baby steps. You see, in order to live the abundant life that Jesus came to give, you must do your part– after all, “faith without works is dead.”

Self-Care is Not Optional

Don’t wait until you are burnt out or running on empty, before you make it a priority to take care of yourself. Anyone who has traveled by plane know that the attendant provides safety instructions to put on your oxygen mask on first, and then place the mask on the other person in the event of safety concerns. Yet, in our daily lives we place everything and everyone else as priority, and we do not address our basic needs and then wonder why we are angry, bitter, discouraged and depressed.

I challenge you to spend time with God first, take a moment to ponder on and take care of your personal needs, and then take care of everything and everyone else. Self care is not optional, it is necessary. (Matthew 6:33).

Practice Mindfulness

The practice of mindfulness doesn’t need to be complicated. When there is chaos around you, take a moment to check out mentally – by simply focusing on your breathing. This practice will cost you nothing but a little time, but the stress reduction will benefit your body, your soul and your mind.

Lessons to Learn from the Pandemic

Can you believe that we are approaching two years into the pandemic? Wow. Well, there are a few things that this challenging time can teach us. First of all, it is time to create a new normal (if you haven’t already). Secondly, with the life’s uncertainties we may need to shift our focus on being happy and content where we are, while we work towards what’s next. Lastly, with God on our side, we are strong enough to face whatever may come our way, even when we don’t feel like it.
